This charm is mentioned only in passing; it is one of two used for cleaning – see also [[..Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Magic/Scourgify/]]. In a number of places in Potions class, [[../..Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Severus Snape|Professor Snape]] will use this charm to clean an incorrectly made potion out of a cauldron; on one occasion, [[../..Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Hermione Granger|Hermione]] used it to clear up a potion that [[../..Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Harry Potter|Harry]] wasn't done with yet. It is also used by Harry to clean [[../..Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Hedwig|Hedwig]]'s cage, in the seventh book.

This spell seems to be used for cleaning things out of containers; Scourgify is used for cleaning things off surfaces, and [[..Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Magic/Tergeo/]] seems to be specific to dust..
