While Harry wants his two best friends to be happy, he is also concerned about himself. If Ron and Hermione should ever get together as a couple, it could mean he would be left behind. Harry is beginning to realize just how much he relies on each for their friendship and support, a fact Dumbledore has subtly been impressing upon him for some time. Harry also wrestles with budding romantic feelings for Ginny Weasley, although he brushes this off as "brotherly" concern.

Harry, in this chapter, shows that he is very skilled at using people flaws & habits. Harry uses Hermione's habit of trying boss people arrowned & Ron's habit of ignoring her to make Ron think that he has just taken a drink of Felix Felicis so Ron will, hopefully, play to his full potential. This is very simular to how Voldemort uses peoples & how they think to his edvantage, however unlike Voldemort Harry is doing this more for his friends then for his own selfish means. Harry's plan has two parts, the first is to show Ron he is good at something when he is focusing. The second part is help Ron & Hermione to get along better, unfortunately do to Ron being less machore then the other two of the Trio, the second part of Harry's plan fales miserably.

Readers should take note of the small girl in the seventh-floor hallway who drops the frog-spawan.
