Upon hearing Ginny was taken into the Chamber of Secrets, the governors recall Dumbledore. Several imply that Lucius Malfoy threatened to curse their families had they not supported Dumbledore's removal. Dumbledore, [[Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Arthur Weasley|Mr. Weasley]], and [[Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Molly Weasley|Mrs. Weasley]] await in McGonnagall's office as Harry, Ginny, Ron, and [[Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Gilderoy Lockhart|Gilderoy Lockhart]] are led from the Chamber by Fawkes. Dumbledore helps explain Ginny's unwitting involvement, saying Tom Riddle and [[Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Lord Voldemort|Lord Voldemort]] are the same person, and Voldemort has hoodwinked wizards more powerful than she is.
 
There are also no consequences for Harry breaking school rules,. Dumbledore awards both Harry and Ron 200 house points each and says that they will also recieve special awards to the services to the school awards. Then, Dumbledore assures Harry that, despite similarities to [[Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Lord Voldemort|Lord Voldemort]], he truly belongs in Gryffindor House, not Slytherin. Dumbledore tells him: "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." Lucius Malfoy is warned that anyone caught aiding the Dark Lord will be severely punished. Dumbledore also gives Harry the encouragement he needs to free [[Muggles' Guide to Harry Potter/Characters/Dobby|Dobby]], Malfoy's House-elf who helped Harry.
